The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.
